BIOAEROSOL NEBULIZING GENERATOR  (BANG)

 Data Sheet

The BioAerosol Nebulizing Generator (BANG) is offered for sale as a one, three or six jet version.  The 1, 3 and 6 jet versions are

similar and interchangeable with changes in jet plate and air source plate.  The six jet BANG is a fixed device.

The device is intrinsically similar to the Collison Nebulizer from which it is derived.  However, unlike the Collison, it allows for the measured delivery of liquid to the jet nozzle.  This allows two modes or action:  Single Pass (SP) mode or like the Collison, Recycling Mode (RM).

In the SP mode, liquid is delivered from a reservoir such as an open container (beaker) or a closed flexible film container, i.e. an Intra-Venous fluid bag.  Using a peristaltic pump, liquid is taken by tubing from the container at a measured rate and delivered to the jet plate at constant flow rate.  The flow rate is chosen by the user based on the desired aerosol concentration to be delivered by the BANG.  The jet within the BANG operates in an aspiration mode due to the Bernoulli Effect.  Thus, unless flow is controlled or regulated by a metering device, e.g. the peristaltic pump or a suitable valve or choke, the true throughput would be set by the aspiration feature of the jet or jets.

The single jet BANG and the six jets BANG are fed via a single liquid source.  The two and three jet BANG have 2 or 3 separate liquid inlets with co-located air sources or a single common air source (optional feature).  In this way, one, two or three separate liquids or feeds can be sent to the generator or one common source can be divided into three regulated lines.  Each one is separately aspirated by its own air line or one common line for all three liquid lines.
